Dr. Aherrahrou obtained his Bachlor degree in Biology in Morocco and his Master degree in Bio-Pharmacy at the China Pharmaceutical University in China. In addition to his academical study he also got skills in various languages including English, German, French, Arabic, and chinese. From 2001 he began his Doctorate under the direction of Prof. Dr. HA Katus / Dr. B Ivandic at the Medical University of Lübeck in Lübeck. In 2004, he obatined his PhD degree in human biology focusing on cardiovascular calcification in mice as a model for human calcification. Since 2004 he works as a Postdoc on the same topic in the molecular genetic research group of Prof. Dr H Schunkert, and Prof. Dr. J Erdmann. During this work, Dr. Aherrahrou was carrying successfull investigations not only to identify genes for calcification, but also causal mutation that results in a lack of the encoding protein. The interest of Dr. Aherrahrou is to in depth understand the patho-genetic mechnisms leading to cardiovascular calcification in both human and mice."
